BEGINNING EXPERIENCE (BE)

Beginning Experience Weekends provide a caring, supportive atmosphere for those who have been married and are now single because of divorce, separation or the death of a spouse. It gives them time to re-evaluate themselves and their lives, and to look to the future with renewed hope. The weekend is for people who have worked through the initial stages of denial, anger, despair and rejection and for those who have found themselves stuck at a point in their journey. Recommended time from the loss before a weekend is usually six months to one year. For people whose loss is more recent, Coping Sessions are recommended. Brochures for BE and Coping Sessions are in the back of the church. Contact the Office of Family Life at the Spiritual Life Center 744-0167.

CURSILLO

Cursillo approaches evangelization as a very natural act of being Christ-like within each of our daily activities. It provides a method and a technique to provide us with the tools, the mentality, the strength, and the support to make this natural type of evangelization possible. The Cursillo Movement assists in developing a deeper understanding of what it means to be fully Catholic by being fully Christian. Contact: Mary Linder 788-3928.

HOSPICE VOLUNTEER

Hospice helps people live their final days in dignity and comfort with family and friends. Psychological, physical, social and spiritual care are available from a team consisting of physician, nurses, health care aides, social workers, pastoral counselors and volunteers. Training is required and volunteers can serve within their own community. Call 264-9180.

MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER (ME)

Marriage Encounter is a weekend retreat where a couple is shown a technique of communication that can help them examine their lives together. ME is for any couple who desires to better their marriage, deepen their love and improve their communication. They learn about the Sacrament of Marriage and the important roles they have as husband and wife and to families and community. Contact the Office of Family Life at the Spiritual Life Center 744-0167.

PREVIOUSLY MARRIED CATHOLICS (PMC)

Previously Married Catholics is a diocesan support group that offers social, spiritual and educational activities for divorced, separated or widowed Catholics and their families. Even though this is a Catholic organization, we welcome all denominations-anyone who needs and wants help during a rough time of suffering a loss. Contact the Office of Family Life at the Spiritual Life Center 744-0167.

PRISON MINISTRY

Prison Ministry spreads the Good News of Christ within correctional institutions and detention centers and provides charitable Christian and educational assistance to criminal justice system employees, inmates, parolees, probationers and their families. Each facility has its own training program. There are many ways to help: visit, donate books, assist in a Christmas gift program for their children, pray. Call the Parish Office at 788-5525.

RETROUVAILLE

Retrouvaille is a weekend experience for couples in troubled marriages designed to help participants make a new start in communicating, forgiving, and growing. Three married couples and a priest facilitate the weekend. Contact the Office of Family Life at the Spiritual Life Center 744-0167.
