Outreach Commission

The Outreach Commission assists the parish staff by coordinating the ministry relating to human needs, both for parishioners and for the larger community. Groups included in this Commission are centered around social awareness and pastoral care. This Commission encompasses Social Concerns, Bereavement, Evangelization and Service Projects.

On the first Sunday of each month our parish collects non-perishable food items and monetary donations that are taken to God's Food Pantry in Wichita. The donated items are dropped off at the back of church, then pooled and distributed to the poor each week. The Pantry operates primarily on the donations of individuals and churches.

Health and Wellness volunteers promote wellness and foster awareness through education and training. Volunteers share their medical training and talent with parishioners and assist in connecting people in need with services. Contact: Parish Office 788-5525.

Homebound Ministers are Eucharistic Ministers, selected by the Pastor, who spend an hour and a half after 8 am Mass to take the Eucharist to those who are homebound or in care centers. Drivers with vans that can accommodate transporting wheelchair-bound parishioners to Mass are also needed. Call Sherry Reed, 788-7144.

The Marthas is a group of volunteer women and men who will meet individual or family needs during crisis times such as a death, illness or hospitalization. If you know anyone who needs help, call the parish office at 788-5525.

St. Mary Pro-Life group declares the sacredness of life through advocacy, prayer, support and education. They support various diocesan pro-life activities and organizations through volunteering, fundraising and communication of services and upcoming events. Regular meetings are on the fourth Thursday of each month in Neumann Hall. Contact: Chuck Pawloski 788-0931 .

The Pro-Life group and the Knights of Columbus have annual fundraisers for A BETTER CHOICE, a diocesan crisis pregnancy center which offers free pregnancy testing and counseling. The St. Mary Pro-Life group also has a fundraiser to support GERARD HOUSE, which is a caring, supportive home for pregnant teenagers and adults at a difficult time in their lives.

JUSTICE FOR ALL’s mission is to effect bio-ethical reform through making abortion unthinkable and unlawful, providing assistance to women and their families in crisis pregnancies and helping post-abortion women experience healing. KANSANS FOR LIFE is a statewide educational organization engaged in social action and dedicated to protecting and fostering the most basic human right - life itself.

After having been involved with or affected by an abortion, PROJECT RACHEL offers a way to receive God’s healing grace and to be welcomed back to the church community through sensitive and confidential counseling and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Pamphlets regarding pro-life organizations are available at the back of church.

Any parishioner can participate in this ministry by contacting the rectory and obtaining a current list of parishioners who are in the hospital, homebound or sick. Persons willing to visit should call before visiting in order to set up a convenient time. Participation in this ministry is carrying out one of the corporal works of mercy. Contact the Parish Office 788-5525.
