Mrs. Griswold's First Grade Class
2010-2011

Math - We are working on Problem Solving, Greater Than/LessThan, and Number Lines. The test over Chpt. 1 is on 9/10. Then we will learn addition concepts.

Reading - poetry and rhyme continued. Poems are Hey, Diddle, Diddle, There Once Was a Fish , and Rain . Literature Story: Corduroy and Where the Wild Things Are.

Religion - We are continuing Chpt. 23: We Pray. Test will be 9/14.

Phonics - Zz. Ss, suffix s, blends, Dd

Handwriting - t,p, z, l, a

Social Studies - We have finished talking about rules, now we will begin learning about America and our Constitution.

Character - We are finishing Citizenship and will begin Compassion.

Your child is bringing home little books that they need to read to you. Then you will ask them questions about the story (found in the back of the book). Afterwards, please sign the page found in their homework folder.

Also on your child’s phonics homework, there is a high frequency word box. Please have your child read those to you and then sign your name or initials in that box.

Thanks for all of your help! We are all doing a great job in first grade!

If your child brings home a Children's Worship Bulletin on Friday, it is homework and needs to be completed by Monday. (most of us will get them done in class)
