Dear Parents,
This will be the last week of the first nine-weeks.
Please be sure that your child has all redo and make-up work
turned in by Friday. It will not be accepted after Friday,
October 19.
Next week we will begin our Saints project. Information
will be sent out to parents listing, in detail, what is expected of
each student. We will be responsible for the Prayer Service on Wednesday, October 24. Feel free to come and see your child, parts will be given this Wednesday.
We will be doing an art project for Science this week and we are in need of a few things: grains-rice, wheat, corn, millet, or buckwheat; beans-varying colors. Don’t forget conferences have been scheduled for October 25-26. If you have any
other concerns feel free to call (788-3151) or e-mail me at mbusch@stmarysderby.com.
Math: We have begun Chapter 4: Adding and subtracting whole numbers. We will be working mostly with regrouping ones and tens. I hope to introduce multiplication within the next few weeks.
Reading: This week we are reading “Little Grunt and the Big Egg.” Next week we will begin “Rosie: A Visiting Dog's Story.” Because the following 2-weeks are short weeks, I will be dividing this story between them.
Religion: We have begun Chapter 7: The Holy Spirit, our test will be on Friday, October 19.
Language: We have begun Unit 2: Nouns and Expository Writing. We will have our Weekly Grammar Test over possessive nouns on Friday, October 19.
Science: We will be reviewing Chapter 4; our study guide will go home on Tuesday, October 16. Our test will be Wednesday, October 17.
Spelling: The pre-tests will be given on Wednesday and post-tests with Challenge words will be given on Friday.
